The Driver of the Day Award has grown into a standout moment of every race, celebrating the competitor who shows exceptional racecraft, sharp consistency, and the composure required to thrive under pressure.
The FMU Esport Championship Series began in August and concluded in November 2025, held at Fun Station Naalya at Metroplex. The championship was structured as a four round series designed to showcase the diverse grassroots pathways available for participation in motorsport. Organized by the national motorsport governing body FMU, the competition attracted twelve drivers, with more than half being active national rally competitors. Their presence brought a unique blend of real world racing experience and competitive fire to the virtual environment.
Over the months, the series built a strong following with a recognisable number of spectators both online and on location at Fun Station Naalya. It quickly gained admiration within the local motorsport community, and many young motorsport enthusiasts have already hinted at joining the 2026 edition. With BLACKLyf consistently supporting the Driver of the Day accolade, the excitement surrounding the championship keeps growing.
The 2025 season crowned Isaac Jua Kali Katende as the FMU Esport Championship Series champion. In the final round, he delivered a defining performance that not only secured the championship title but also earned him the Driver of the Day. He posted the fastest time in the ultimate stage, Pihlajokoski in Finland, with an impressive run of 4 minutes and 49.6 seconds. The Driver of the Day Award, powered by BLACKLyf, amplified his achievement and celebrated his calm but dominant drive under pressure.
Miguel Katende and Omar Dauda also delivered strong performances in the final round, finishing second and third respectively in the round 4 overall classification. Their consistency throughout the season added to the competitive spirit that kept fans engaged from start to finish.
For BLACKLyf, being part of this series is about more than presence. It is about fueling passion, uplifting young talent, and contributing to a community where culture, performance, and innovation meet. The FMU Esports Champions Series has become a platform that unites seasoned racers, new competitors, and esports fans, creating momentum for the future of motorsport entertainment in Uganda.
As strategies unfold on every stage and split second choices make the difference between victory and defeat, the Driver of the Day Award remains a powerful reminder of what true excellence looks like. With BLACKLyf championing this accolade and FMU steering the growth of esports, the series is paving the way for an even bigger and more exciting 2026 season.
