Kampala’s Power Shutdown Schedule Is Out.
For many people across Kampala and surrounding areas, the next few weeks will require a little more planning than usual.
Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited recently announced scheduled power shutdowns across parts of the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area from May 14 to June 2, 2026 as part of critical transmission line improvement works being carried out by Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited.
The works are aimed at improving long-term power reliability along the Lugogo-Kampala North 132kV transmission line, but in the meantime, thousands of residents, workers, students, creators, and businesses will experience planned outages running from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM in several areas around Kampala.
