BLACK Earns Another Digital Impact Awards Africa Nomination as It Expands to Entebbe
Ugandan lifestyle technology company BLACKLYF has earned another nomination at the Digital Impact Awards Africa (DIAA) 2026, returning to the awards after winning the Excellent Personal and Home Technology Award in 2025
The latest nomination comes as the company continues to expand its retail presence, most recently opening an outlet at Victoria Mall in Entebbe. The new location brings BLACK’s products closer to consumers outside its Kampala outlets, marking another step in the company’s efforts to grow its presence in Uganda’s consumer technology market.
At the 2025 Digital Impact Awards Africa, BLACK emerged as the winner in the Excellent Personal and Home Technology category, competing against established technology and electronics companies, including Hisense, TECNO, Infinix and Samsung, represented by Transtel Ltd. The recognition highlighted the company’s position in a market where consumers increasingly seek accessible technology for personal use, entertainment and everyday convenience.
A second nomination in a competitive category
BLACK’s nomination in the 2026 edition places it among the contenders in the Consumer and Home Technology Excellence category, alongside established electronics manufacturers and other technology providers.
The category reflects a broader consumer technology landscape in which product functionality, accessibility and relevance to everyday needs remain important considerations. For BLACK, whose range includes smartwatches, headphones, wireless speakers and charging accessories, the nomination offers another opportunity for recognition within the industry.
The Digital Impact Awards Africa, organised by HiPipo, brings together organisations and innovators working across multiple areas of digital development. Its 2026 edition is scheduled for 13 November at Kampala Serena Hotel, with nominees representing sectors ranging from financial services and healthcare to commerce, mobility and consumer technology.
From recognition to retail expansion
Beyond the awards, BLACK’s growth is also reflected in its expanding physical presence. The opening of its Victoria Mall outlet in Entebbe brings the company’s retail network to three locations, alongside its outlets at Acacia Mall and Palm Village in Kampala. The expansion gives customers in Entebbe a physical location to explore its products, compare options and access the company’s retail offering.
For a consumer technology business, physical retail remains an important part of the customer experience. It allows shoppers to assess products before purchasing and gives them a point of contact for product information and after-sales support.
BLACK’s expansion also comes amid continued competition in Uganda’s electronics market, where local retailers and international manufacturers serve consumers with different preferences and budgets. Establishing a presence in Entebbe broadens the company’s reach while providing another channel through which it can engage customers.
The significance of a second year in the spotlight
Winning an award and receiving another nomination are distinct milestones. The 2025 win established BLACK as a recognised recipient in its category, while the 2026 nomination places it among the organisations being considered for recognition again.
The outcome of this year’s awards remains to be determined. However, the combination of renewed industry recognition and an expanding retail footprint provides a useful snapshot of the company’s current direction.
